When the snow melts, what does it become? It turns into spring! Celebrate the approaching warmer weather with a pastel coloured Knot Wrap.
A longer shaped Knot Wrap inspired by the traditional Japanese tengui cloths – a multifunctional cloth that can be used as a gift wrap towel, a wash cloth and hair accessory among many other things. Made from organic Japanese cotton by Iwaki Otento SUN in Fukushima, it can be used and reused as many times as you need. The nature of a tengui involves raw edges which means the threads can fray. The advantages of this means that the cloth can fully dry and meant that they could be torn easily to use as a bandage.
As you use your tenugui, you may notice the loose threads on the end. Whenever this happens, make sure to wash it frequently. You may fear that by washing it, it would make it worse, but there is no need to worry. As you use a brand new tenugui, the threads come loose, but as you continue to wash it, the threads naturally stop fraying after about 1cm. If it ever bothers you or you don’t like the loose threads, go ahead and trim the ends with some scissors.
