Co-Create is a product creation program for Lush staff, aiming to promote diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging by lifting up authentic stories from respective communities. Co-creator Ro De La Monja from the Studio Support team at Beak Street in London shares their inspiration for this Día de Muertos product.
“Cempasúchil is the Nahuatl name of the marigold flower that has been used in the festival and ritual of Día de Muertos since the beginning of the holiday in pre-Hispanic times. Between the months of October and November, it is impossible to escape the intoxicating aroma of cempasúchil wafting through the streets and homes of Mexico, a signifier of both autumn and Día de Muertos.”
