LUSH Malaysia Takes Action to Protect Tioman’s Coral Reefs

In a continued commitment to championing marine conservation, LUSH Malaysia together with HH Tunku Tun Aminah Binti Sultan Ibrahim joined Reef Check Malaysia for a hands-on coral restoration initiative, translating its purpose-led commitment into tangible action to protect and restore the island’s precious marine ecosystems.

This collaboration with Reef Check Malaysia marked a significant step in bringing the impact of the previously launched Malaysia-exclusive Coral Soap to life, demonstrating how a purpose-led product can extend beyond the shelves and contribute to meaningful, on-the-ground conservation efforts.

A total of 415 coral fragments were planted across 8 coral frames, which were subsequently placed in the waters of Tioman Island within Reef Check Malaysia’s coral rehabilitation area. These newly planted corals will form part of ongoing restoration efforts to rehabilitate damaged reef ecosystems, strengthen marine biodiversity and support the long-term health and resilience of Tioman’s coral reefs for generations to come.

In addition to Coral Planting, LUSH Malaysia also took part in a beach clean-up at Monkey Bay in Tioman, collecting 126 kilograms of rubbish consisting of plastics, rubber items and styrofoam, among others. This number brings the total weight of rubbish collected to date by LUSH Malaysia to 12,659 kilograms.
